I recently visited Paris for the 6th time—and didn’t use my camera at all. It was so freeing just to wander, but of course I can’t not post about my favourite city so here’s a combination of past snaps in the form of an “Amélie filming locations in Paris” guide.
I ate literally the worst food of my life here, but it was still worth visiting just to sit inside for half an hour. I know, I’m a sucker—if you pop in, just buy a drink.
Le Café des Deux Moulins, 15 rue Lepic, Montmartre
Easy to miss due to its blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance in the film, I walked past Amélie’s flat several times before realising it was there. Keep your eyes open for the blue door next to Épicerie Fine.
56 rue des Trois-Frères, Montmartre
Fed up with watching her local greengrocer being nasty to his assistant, Amélie gaslights him to get revenge.
Au Marche de la Butte, rue des Trois-Frères
Poor Mme. Poulin was killed right outside the Cathédrale Notre-Dame, by someone jumping to their death from one of the towers (which, FYI, isn’t actually possible due to security fencing).
Notre-Dame de Paris, Place Jean-Paul II
The train stations
As she criss-crosses Paris trying to track down her mystery man, Amélie visits a few of the city’s train stations.
Gare de l’Est / Gare du Nord / Gare de Lyon
Bonus tip: From the Gare de l’Est, take a day trip to Provins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site an hour outside Paris.
Amélie also uses Paris’s beautiful Metropolitain (or Metro) a fair bit. The most famous station shown is probably Lamarck-Caulaincourt, with it’s beautiful double staircase.
Métro Lamarck-Caulaincourt, rue Caulaincourt
Sacré-Coeur and Butte Montmartre
The park in front of this stunning basilique is where Amélie sets up her blue chalk arrows, leading Nino to the binoculars as part of her cute game to return his scrapbook.
Sacré-Coeur, rue du Chevalier de la Barre
Amélie famously skims stones on the canal, and also releases her suicidal pet goldfish into its murky waters.
Canal Saint-Martin, 10th arrondisement
Rue Saint Vincent
In one of the movie’s least recognisable scenes, this pretty cobbled street features in the opening credits.
Rue Saint Vincent, Montmartre
Pont des Arts
Famous for its (now-gone) love locks, it’s while crossing this bridge that Amélie feels the sudden urge to make her fellow humans happier.

I did ‘gram my way around town so if you’ve had your fill of Amélie filming locations and just need Paris porn, head over to Insta’.
